Sparkle Valley - Book 2
Overview
Abigail made it back. But everything has changed.
For a moment things seemed to go back to normal. Emily had rediscovered her imagination. The toys were safe. And Abigail, united with her “big sister,” really thought that the worst was over.
Only it wasn't.
Summer is fading now and middle school is looming. Emily is drifting again. Not suddenly, but slowly. She has new priorities and is leaving childhood behind. Abigail notices this, especially in the quieter moments, and the increased amount of time that she spends alone. Imagination is now competing with everything else.
Then a message from Sparkle Valley breaks through.
Gloria, the ragdoll returns with a warning.
Sparkle Valley has fallen.
The Smortzle, a manipulative and power-hungry troll, has taken over. The world is now unrecognizable, and fear has replaced wonder.
But the worst part is that nobody knows how it all happened.
Abigail returns to the Valley and it feels fundamentally broken. Lost toys are in hiding or being forced to work. The Pink Palace has been replaced by the Blue Palace. Massive blue statues of the troll dot the landscape. Even former allies like the Bobblehead Brigade seem to have joined forces with the Smortzle out of fear.
But something doesn't add up. The Smortzle may be in charge, but he may not be the actual threat.
Attacks by shadowy Inzos, creatures that feed on fear and bad memories, are growing more frequent, and there are whispers that they aren't acting on the Smortzle’s orders at all. Somebody else may be pulling the strings.
Abigail connects with old friends and meets new characters, including an unsettling Frank Needlenose, as she's pulled even deeper into mystery. It seems like every answer leads to more questions, and every ally is hiding something. And there’s one big question mark at the center of it all.
Ivana.
The rival that Abigail helped redeem may not be gone.
She may be hidden and broken. Or she may be responsible.
Determined to find the truth, Abigail ventures into the unknown by following clues that lead her to a hidden cottage and a long ago abandoned laboratory where dangerous experiments once blurred the lines between imagination and reality.
And here she discovers something much more unsettling than a tyrant’s rule. The force that's threatening Sparkle Valley was never fully defeated. It was quietly waiting..
As Sparkle Valley continues to fracture and trust collapses, Abigail is faced with harder choices than ever before. Who can she believe? What is she really fighting? If the true enemy isn't the Smortzle, then how do you stop something you can't even see?
Because this time saving Sparkle Valley won't be about restoring what was lost. It'll be about confronting something that was never fully understood.
