Personal Reflections on the Ideas Behind Sparkle Valley

The Blue Flower

I think about the Blue Flower every day.  It’s the inner spark that pulls me forward. I love it because it’s beautiful and fragile. It’s my North Star.

Abigail

I so admire Abigail. Her fight, her tenacity. Her loyalty and love for her sister. And also her fragility. I can’t think of anyone who I would want fighting for me more than Abigail.

Emily

Emily is everything. Her humanity, imperfection. Eyes of wonder that dim, but then open again when it matters most. Sparkle Valley is about emotion and goodness and fighting to keep feeling in a world that doesn't want you to. She is Sparkle Valley.

Inzos

I despise Inzos. Their confidence, their smugness. How they try to define us by our fears. I won’t stand for it and neither will Abigail.

The Beast

The Beast is the worst – the thief of humanity – the robber of imagination and joy. I know it’s out there, quietly lurking, and that's why we keep fighting it.

Thin Places

Thin places are what we live for. And it doesn’t have to be a place. It’s a moment. And in that moment anything is possible. It’s when I am most alive. I wish moments like this for everyone.

Growing up

“Growing up” has come to mean acting responsibly and turning away from childish things. But imagination isn’t childish. And growing up doesn’t have to kill wonder, it can deepen it.

Grandma Doris

Everyone should be so lucky to have a Grandma Doris in their lives.
